NUTRITION MEDICINE PRACTITIONERS RECOMMEND PROBIOTICS AFTER A PATIENT COMPLETES A COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS. HERE'S WHY:

Although antibiotics have dramatically improved the fight against infectious diseases, they kill both the good and bad bacteria.

Probiotics are essential to replenish the 'good'/ friendly bacteria, lost through use of antibiotics.

Additionally, they enhance the proper functioning of the digestive and immune systems.

In Sierra Leone, the protection of friendly bacteria in the gut is threatened by the over-use of antibiotics.

The following factors contribute to the abuse of these drugs:

• They are sold over the counter, by licensed and unlicensed personnel as well as petty traders in kiosks or stalls on every street corner
• There's a widespread belief that antibiotics can be taken for any medical condition; be it headache, nausea, toothache, pain in the joints etc.
• Some women believe it should be ingested as a cleansing agent, following their monthly cycle!

Our aim is to educate people about the dangers involved in use of antibiotics without prescription and encourage medical doctors to incorporate PROBIOTICS into their practice.

We are appealing for donations of multi-strain probiotics, that we could distribute locally for promotional purposes.
